JOB SUMMARY
Facilitates successful job search with all clients in the Re-entry phase of treatment. Teaches job seeking skills and interviewing skills. Writes resumes, cover letters and thank you notes. Provides support and counseling throughout the clients’ job search process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Case Management: Manages a caseload of clients currently seeking employment. Facilitates a daily morning meeting with all clients in active caseload. Maintains attendance records. Conducts a thorough intake with each client as they begin their job search to insure a supportive and appropriate job search plan is developed. Assists clients with job search planning. Teaches interviewing skills, job search skills and works with clients on soft skills as necessary. Writes an individualized resume for each client. Conducts mock interviews with clients and provides constructive feedback. Assists in cover letter and thank you note development. Facilitates employment related workshops/presentations. Provides counseling and support around all stages of the job seeking process. Connects clients to transitional work or training programs when appropriate. Ensures that each client’s employment goals are in line with the larger goal of economic self sufficiency. Participates and calls case conferences with department and clinical staff when necessary.
•Program Development Responsibilities: Provides assistance in development and implementation of employment services. In collaboration with other staff, develops services that link employment with the larger goal of economic self sufficiency for individual clients and the program as a whole. Performs offsite outreach with community-based organizations.
•Research Responsibilities: Researches outside program models and funding sources for employment and training programs serving very low income and unemployed adults. Develops, plans and implements employment modules (group instruction, workshops, discussion groups, etc.)
•Administrative Responsibilities: Maintains accurate client files in accordance with CARF and departmental standards. Documents significant client activities.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
•Gets along with others and work as part of a team
•Attends weekly employment team meetings and monthly all staff meetings
EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
•BA in Social Work, Psychology or related field
•Extensive knowledge/experience in employment or career counseling
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Mastery of MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Internet applications
•Knowledge of diverse, disadvantaged populations with multiple barriers to educational and vocational success, including low literacy, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and impaired cognitive functioning
•Knowledge of the job seeking process
•Able to write and format resumes and cover letters for others
•Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload
•Highly creative, energetic and enthusiastic
