6. New Housing Program available through First Place for Youth

In an effort to promote permanency in the lives of former foster youth, First Place for Youth's PATH (Permanent Avenues towards Home) Program is a new initiative that pairs a youth with a permanent caring adult in their life. As foster youth prepare for the natural transition from adolescence into adulthood, the guidance, support, and stability provided by this positive and caring adult is integral for a successful transition to independent living. To participate in the program, youth must identify a qualified permanent adult in their lives that is able to house the youth in their home for at least two years or until the day before their 25th birthday, whichever one comes first.

Program eligibility requirements:

  • Former foster youth whose county of origin is San Francisco County
  • Has youth-identified permanent adult with appropriate housing
  • Between the ages of 18 and 24

First Place is currently accepting referrals for the program. Interested
youth should contact Ly Franshaua Pipkins at 510-272-0979 x244.
